My name is Norm Johnson I am 52 years old and have resided in Oregon my entire life. As the 1980s closed I had begun to hunt with recurve bows I had made in my garage at night after working hours.I began bowhunting in 1981 at the age of 18. I began with a compound bow shooting with my fingers and no sites. In 1986 I transitioned to a recurve bow made by my late friend Jim Brackenbury. At that time I was employed by the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife as a hatchery technician. As the 1980s closed I had begun to hunt with recurve bows I had made in my garage at night after working hours. In 1991 the late night hobby had turned to a full time business and Blacktail Bows was born. Today I share the business with my friend and partner Alan Pope of Bloomington Indiana. We have fully operational shops producing the bows in both Oregon and Indiana.
I have 3 children (all married) and 2 grandchildren and married 29 years to my supportive wife Kathy.
Most of my bowhunting has been in the western United States with a couple of trips to Alaska as well.
It is an honor to serve the PBS a second term as a councilman. I am excited to see the enthusiasm toward the regional rep. program and the membership hunts.
